Defective Transvaginal Mesh Implants
Transvaginal Mesh Lawyer
Surgical mesh can be used to repair damaged or weakened tissue. It can be used transvaginally (through the vagina) to reinforce the weakened vaginal wall to repair pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or to support the urethra in order to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Transvaginal placement of surgical mesh has met with some controversy through the years. It has been associated with serious side effects, including erosion, bleeding, painful intercourse and even organ perforation.
If you or someone you love was treated for pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence with transvaginal mesh, you may be entitled to financial compensation. A
pharmaceutical injury lawyer at our firm can review the circumstances surrounding your case to determine how to seek compensation for your medical care and possibly much more.
The side effects caused by defective transvaginal mesh are serious and may require immediate medical attention, surgery and hospitalization. This can quickly add up to thousands of dollars in medical bills and lost earnings from missed work. At Arnold & Itkin LLP, our team is committed to seeking maximum monetary compensation in order to help our clients seek the best medical care and regain control of their lives. FDA Warning for Transvaginal Mesh
The FDA released an update regarding complications associated with transvaginal placement of surgical mesh for pelvic organ prolapse. The update stated, "The FDA is issuing this update to inform you that serious complications associated with surgical mesh for transvaginal repair of POP are not rare." It went on to provide helpful information about pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence and how, from January 2008 through December 2010, the FDA had received nearly 2,900 reports of complications associated with transvaginal mesh to treat these conditions. This has therefore been identified as an area of continuing concern, and healthcare providers and patients alike should be informed of the potential dangers associated with transvaginal mesh.
